Africa is an enormous continent with a lot of potential. The weather, however, varies wildly, and can affect a vacation in negative ways. It is advisable to check the weather conditions before hand and find out what is the best time to visit a particular country for a safari holiday. The best time to plan an African Safari is during the months from May to October. This period is the dry season and it is easier to spot animals as they move in search of water. During the months when it rains, the grass grows to an enormous height and it might make spotting animals difficult. However, there may be climatic variations from one country to another, so it is advisable to check the specifics before booking a vacation.

The ideal time to visit Botswana is during the months of May and October. That is when the Okavango Delta deluges. The weather during this time is pleasant and the temperatures during the day are very mild, the nights being a little cold. The best time to travel to South Africa is also from May to October. South Africa experiences its summers from November to March. During these months, humidity is very high and the weather is very sticky. Zimbabwe should be visited between June and August. This is the time when the country experiences its winter season. The Victoria Falls can be visited throughout the year, but the best time for rafting is between July and January. In the eastern part of the continent, particularly Tanzania and Kenya, the months of April, May and June are the worst times to visit. It rains heavily during this time and it becomes difficult to enjoy the various wildlife reserves and the scenic beauty of these countries. The months of July to October and December to March are quite pleasant and recommended for a visit to this wonderland.
