water safari on the Mombasa sandy beaches is a unique and relaxing
vacation destination in east Africa. For the warm waters of the
Indian Ocean, the water safari activities on offer are a sure
holiday experience.
Water safari sports Most of the hotels arranged along the wide
beaches in Diani south coast offer diverse water sports. These
include Water-skiing, Sailing, Jet skiing, parasailing and much more
and can all be arranged easily at most of the hotels. The protective
coral reefs provide a safe haven for water safari sports and safe
swimming along these beaches.
Snorkeling and scuba diving water safari sports
There are over 4 national marine parks set up to protect the fragile
coral gardens. These are Malindi, Mombasa, Watamu, Kisite Mpunguti
and Kiunga Marine parks. The Malindi and Kisite marine parks are
especially famous for snorkeling and swimming with dolphins.
Dive sites Some of the best water safari diving sites are centered
on Shimoni and Tiwi where divers encounter the huge manta rays.
Whale sharks are guaranteed sightings during the months of February
and March each year on the outer reef dive sites.
Easy dive sites For the new diver there is an easier dive is Kisiite
Point. With an average depth of 12 meters divers here encounter tame
shoals of fish. Hawksbill turtles and bottlenose dolphins are also
encountered at Kisiite point by divers.
Experience dive sites
Nyulli Reef is one of the best dive sites for the experienced scuba
diver. This is a good deep dive site with strong tidal currents. It
offers a spectacular coral garden and a plunging drop off which is
home to excellent sea life. Fishes found here include the barracuda,
snapper, massive Napoleon wrasse and rare zebra sharks.
Wreck diving water safari sport
MV Ufunguo, an artificial coral reef from a scuttled trawler is a
perfect wreck diving spot in the northern point of Diani. The wreck
has since split open and the hull is now a massive haven for sea
life and coral.
There are several dive operators in the both private and hotel
operated. PADI, NAUI and SSI standards of safety and quality are all
enforced and Full courses with qualified instructors and
international SCUBA certification are available. Night diving and
specialist Nitrox diving is also offered here.

hired from your hotel in the south coast beaches including Hobie
cats and sailing skiffs. Kayaks are also on hire for maneuvering
sheltered waters, bays and creeks.
Private hire yachting is also available at Shimoni. These can be
hired together with a crew for private exploration of the Kenyan
coast idyllic beaches.
Dhow trips A full day water safari dhow trip is arranged to the
Wasini Island off Shimoni. Lunch is served at the Charlies claw
restaurant on Wasini. Dolphin will usually escort the dhow in the
marine park and visitors are able to snorkel with the dolphins from
the dhow.
Big game deep sea sport fishing safari
The Shimoni area has carved a name for big game sport fishing at the
Kenyan coast. Available are the main game fish caught including
Kingfish, Wahoo, Sailfish and Marlin, Horse Mackerel and others. The
Pemba Channel Fishing Club in Shimoni offers big game fishermen all
