Mount Kenya National Park in tour & trip tours
Kenya mt is fascinating in the variation of the flora and fauna at
the different altitudes. The lower slopes are covered with a dry
upland forest; the true montane forest begins at around 2,000m and
is mainly cedar and Podo.
At 2500m a dense belt of bamboo forest begins which again joins into
the upper forest of smaller trees, interspersed with glades. In this
altitude the trees are covered with high altitude moss.
Animals of Kenya mt-Mount Kenya park animals
These different forest sections host a lot of varied animals. These
include: waterbuck, black rhino, black fronted duikers, leopard,
giant forest hog, genet cat Black and White Colobus and Sykes
Monkeys, bushbuck, buffalo, elephant and lower down Olive Baboon,
bush pig and hyena. More elusive is the bongo, a rare type of forest
antelope.
The Sunni Buck, Kenya mt Mole Shrew, Skinks (lizard), and a variety
of owls are among the rare animals found in the forest. Albino
zebras have also been documented and sighted in the forest.
Vegetation on Kenya mt peaks
The Kenya mt moorland or peaks are at 3500m and has little game
including zebras and eland common in the northern moorland. At
3000-3500m, the area is generally open and dotted with shrubs:
African sage, protea and helicrysum.

with a of 136 beds. Just outside the Mount Kenya National Park,
