Nairobi National Park is the oldest animal park in Kenya. Nairobi Kenya’s National Park is set at an altitude of 5,000ft and covers an area of 117sq.km. Leakey torched ivory worth Kshs 60Million to demonstrate to the world how serious Kenya was in curbing the slaughter of elephants for their tusks. A plaque at the site of the bonfire reads ”Great objectives require great sacrifices” The ivory bonfire has since been lit twice to eradicate stocks confiscated from poachers.
