- 3 Steps to Choosing a Family Vacation You Will Not Regret | by Darren Yong

...There are 3 simple steps to planning an unforgettable vacation for both you and your family.

1) Choose your destination
Simply identify the cities, towns, places that you would like to visit. Make sure while planning that the trip will be

family-oriented and not just catered to your preferences.
2) Research
Once you have chosen your destination, it is vital that you do your homework before going on vacation. There

is a host of ways to obtain information on your travel destination. With the abundance of information on the

internet, read-up on your destination. This will give you a rough idea of what to expect from the place, its

culture and people. Many travel guides are also available. Lonely Planet and DK Eye witness Travel are good

reads.....more

- Road Trips are back, air travel is out ! | by Andrew Regan

...I have been on to one of my favourite reference sites and purchased my road map and an Eyewitness UK Travel

Guide. All that's left to do is download some of our favourite tracks to play as we drive around and take in the

scenery. I can confidently say I am well and truly looking forward to my next trip.

Another great thing about travelling by road is the ability to pack the car with as much luggage as you like. The last

holiday I took using air travel involved me being charged for excess baggage when bringing back too many bottles

of wine. I'd been in France - what do people expect?! ....more

- How to avoid summer holiday stresses | by Andrew Regan

... For anyone who hasn't decided on their ideal holiday destination, or needs a comprehensive guide, there are

many online sites that can provide help, however an easy to carry guide in book form is usually the best option.

Currently one of the best is the Dorling Kindersley's series of Eyewitness Travel Guides. The DK travel guides are

well illustrated and comprehensively cover all the general areas you would expect from food and drink, to

entertainment, weather, cultural information and lots more.

What a productive way to kill some time on the plane!.....more

- Pack Your Toothbrush - And a Sense of Adventure: The Art of Planning a Road Trip |

by Lisa Koosis

...When you're loading up the car, be sure to arrange things wisely. Put the things you might need (sunglasses,

snacks, CDs, maps) where a passenger can easily access them. You won't want to have to pull over constantly to

find things.

Invest in a few travel guides for the places you're planning to stop at en route. They might cost you a few extra

dollars, but they're sure to be worth it. There are so many sights that you'd easily overlook without a good travel

book. "Eyewitness" books are great for the major cities, and both "Rough Guides" and "Moon" travel books are

great for someone on a limited budget.....more

- Six Mistakes to Avoid at the Taj Mahal | by Sandra Jean Wilson

...The Taj Mahal is a mausoleum and not a palace; it was created by a Mughal king in honor of his wife who died

giving birth to their fourteenth child, and it is covered in real marble. There is much more to the story that will

enhance your enjoyment of what you will see and feel. Do yourself a favor and enjoy some reading and research

beforehand; the more you know, the richer your experience. Guidebooks, such as India, Eyewitness Travel Guide,

are helpful......more

- Thinking About A Vacation in Jamaica? | by Norm Goldman

...My other main expertise is in regard to Costa Rica. My first guidebook was the Moon Handbook Costa Rica (first

published as the Costa Rica Handbook in 1992), now in its fifth edition, with almost 100,000 copies sold. I've since

authored National Geographic Traveler Costa Rica and the soon-to-be-released Eyewitness Travel Guide to Costa

Rica (Dorling Kindersley), and have acted as a consultant to INTEL, which recently opened a fabrication plant in

Costa Rica....more
