Jaipur Tourism - The Inside
Author:
Michael Braganza
Jaipur has been in the
centrestage of Indian Tourism perspective since years. Why not? It
has been the land of Rajputs - the connoisseurs of things, grand and
magnificent. The city has much value as a picturesque destination,
that's why Roger Moore starrer Bond movie Octopussy has been shot in
the grand locales around it. Let's have quick look at the factors
that makes Jaipur an ideal destination.
The Legacy Rajasthan, the largest state in India, has been a centre
of art and culture. Civilization was there in the state for
6000-8000 years. The Aryans (2000 B.C.), the Mauryans (400 A.D.) and
the Scythians (the Rajputs), had settled in this region for some
times. The Rajputs ruled the land for the longest period, and gave
the region the cultural heritage. So it is called the "Land of the
Rajputs". They have built those awe-inspiring forts and palaces -
the major attractions for an avid tourist.
The Geography The Aravali Range runs across Rajasthan from Mount Abu
(1,722 m) to Khetri in the northeast dividing the state into 60% in
the northwest and 40% in the southeast. The northwest tract includes
the Thar Desert. The southeast is higher in elevation and plain
grassland, it has sheltered the beautiful Chambal River. Farther
north there is Bharatpur district in the basin of the river Yamuna.
Hot Tourist Spots Rajasthan is abound with hot tourist spots, in
fact all have been the contributions of the Rajputs. The major
tourist spots in Rajasthan include: Jaipur, Udaipur, Chittor,
Jaiselmer, Pushkar, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Mount Abu, Bikaner, Mandawa,
Dungarpur, Ranakpur and Ranthambore. All these places are well
connected with the country by road.
Jaipur Attraction Of all the destinations Jaipur is much popular in
Rajasthan, because of the amenities, connectivity and location. It
is famous for three phenomenal things: Magnificent fortresses,
temples and gardens. It is most planned city of Rajasthan. Raj
Mandir theatre, Hawa Mahal and Rajasthani Thali (supple meal) are
the other attractions of the city. Apart from these, you can also
get the royal feeling of Elephant Safari and Camel Safari. Jaipur is
also proud to have Jana Shakti, one of the largest cannons in the
world.
