Great Places to Go on a
Caribbean Islands Cruise
Author:
Joseph Ducat
There are
few more enjoyable ways to spend a vacation than by going on an
ocean cruise to the islands of the Caribbean. There, you will be
able to lose yourself in a sultry tropical paradise, where adventure
awaits you in various scuba diving and snorkeling excursions, and
relaxation abounds on luxurious white beaches and clear crystal
waters.
Let us explore in words a few of the wonderful places you can visit
in the Caribbean on an ocean cruise:
Jamaica is an amazing and fun place, not surprising as it is the
birthplace of Bob Marley and the music known as reggae. You can
visit the resorts of Montego Bay, famous for its clear waters and
lovely beaches. It is a beautiful place, but do be careful--this
city is also known for its high crime rate.
The Cayman Islands, near Jamaica, are a very popular cruise
destination. There is great scuba diving to be experienced here,
including dives at shipwrecks, and there is a famous snorkeling
location--Stingray City--where tourists can go snorkeling with wild
stingrays that have gotten so used to humans that they pose no
threat. If you just want to while away time at a beach resort, then
you can stay at the Seven Mile Beach on Grand Cayman.
The Dutch Antilles include the islands of Aruba, Bonaire, and
Curacao. Aruba is a great place to spend a winter vacation, as it
has dry, sunny weather throughout the year. Bonaire is a great place
to go scuba diving, being one of the top-rated locations for the
sport. The island is surrounded by well-preserved coral reefs, and
in fact the entire coastline has been designated a marine sanctuary,
so that the ocean life remains very rich and diverse. Another
popular tourist activity on Bonaire is flamingo watching.
The independent island nation of Barbados boasts one of the highest
standards of living in the developing world. It is a place with many
great resorts and tourist attractions, such as the unique Atlantis
Submarine diving trip. There are also snorkeling expeditions that
feature visits to shipwrecks and swimming with turtles. If you
really love turtles, you can see more at the Barbados Wildlife
Reserve, where you will see many large specimens, as well as many
other types of animal and plant life.
There are a lot more great destinations to explore in the Caribbean.
We have not even considered Bermuda, Cuba, or the Virgin Islands,
among many, many others.
