Reims Travel Guide

Reims is the capital of the Champagne region, so all lovers of bubbly should pay a visit to one of the many cellars in town. But the city has much more to offer. The historic center has three monuments listed on UNESCO's world heritage list and many others who deserve a place as well.

The Cathedral of Our Lady is the most famous landmark of the city. A masterpiece of gothic art built in the 13th century it is famous for its statues and majestuous lines. Nearly all French kings were crowned under its elegant vaults.

The Tau Palace is just next to the Cathedral. It was built in 1690 as a palace for the archbishop. Today it hosts the statues from the Cathedral and the royal coronations objects.

The City of Reims also accommodates another renowned religious building : the Saint Remi Basilica. Marked by norman and gothic art it houses the Saint Remi Museum.

Reims' nightlife is marked by the presence of over 25,000 students. In the city centre you will find many small restaurants, pubs and clubs that stay open until quite late and are abuzz with the best of French student life. Reims is only 30 minutes from Paris so it can be seen as a daytrip from there.
