The tourist attractions of Greece are quite varied in the sense that, not only cities and museums but even the country’s Mediterranean climate as well as its food; beaches, culture and nightlife are a source of attraction for tourists.

A visit to the Saronic Gulf Islands while in Athens is a must for visitors get an opportunity to view a chain of pine scented islands combined with a wild, spectacular waterfront. If one wants to relax and surf on the beach, he can head towards the Dodecanese Islands renowned for its clear beaches.

Tourists with cultural interests can also look forward to a wide variety of rare and distinctive cultural attractions. These cultural attractions such as archaeological sites and monuments have a distinctive prestige and charm, which have left an indelible mark.

Olympia, where the first Olympic games were held is blessed with some of the most significant monuments which includes the ‘Temple of Zeus’, ‘the Temple of Hera’, ‘the Stadium’, and ‘the Bouleuterion’ where athletes were sworn in. Delphi is the home to Greece’s greatest cultural treasures. According to legend, it was regarded as the ‘Navel of the Earth’. The Temple of Apollo, the sacred Corycian Cave and the Castalian Spring will require time out of you for an enjoyable visit.

For a view of the monuments, you must visit the Meteora. Here you can view a series of monastic buildings balanced on a cluster of isolated precipitous rocks. It is a very remarkably striking site in the world, and was the home to persecuted monks who settled here in the Byzantine period.
