Have you always wanted to go traveling Europe, but have always thought you could not afford it? Airfare has begun rising again so the cost may even be more intimidating. However, you can make traveling Europe a lot less expensive by staying in hostels. It will not be comparable to a five-star hotel, but it may actually be a better way to get to know the local atmosphere while traveling Europe.

If you are afraid that by staying in a hostel, you will end up sleeping on a mat on the floor, and peeling potatoes for your board, you are mistaken. When hostels began, around one hundred years ago, they were very sparse, but they have come a long way since then-although the cost is still very minimal compared to traveling Europe staying in resorts and hotels. You will be sleeping on a bed, and most hostels also do not require you to do chores to lower the cost of your boarding.

Take a look online and you will find listings for many hostels and also organizations to help those who are traveling Europe in hostels. Hostelling International is one of these organizations. They offer very low-priced yearly memberships which give members access to low cost travel insurance and other discounted products. Not only that, but they also have a network of hostels to back them up and you can get travel information on how to get from place to place inexpensively. If you are traveling Europe for the first time, this can be a great benefit for you.

What amenities does a hostel typically offer to travelers? Most offer a room for 2 to 5 or more guests with twin and double beds. You may need to rent a sleep sheet to sleep in, but many of the hostels are now offering linen service to their guests. You will probably be using a common bathroom and kitchen. Some hostels have restaurants and cafes nearby that cater to hostel guests.

Do not travel with a lot of stuff when you are hostelling, because it will bog you down as you travel from place to place.
