From the majestic city of
Jerusalem in Israel to the lands of Saudi Arabia that have only
recently been open to travelers, the Middle East is a land full of
mystery, intrigue, natural beauty, history, and culture that is
exclusive only to its walls. There are many different countries in
the Middle East that are frequently visited by tourists, and each
has something completely different to offer its visitors.
Israel is a magical land of history, religion, culture, and
excitement. There is a mysterious quality about the Old City of
Jerusalem that does not exist anywhere else in the world. Perhaps it
is due to the glorious history of the towering stone walls and
ancient buildings, or perhaps it is due to the sacred atmosphere
that surrounds the holy sites of Jewish, Christian, and Moslem
religions. The enchanting quality of Jerusalem may also come from
the colorful markets and narrow alleyways, or from the city's
dynamic history -- a history woven with war and peace, love and
hate, destruction and resurrection.
Each year, thousands of people discover Turkey -- home of the
legends and historical stories that are taught in classrooms all
over the world. In Turkey, visitors can explore Troy, the land made
famous in Homer's Illiad, and Constantinople, the historic
capital of the Eastern Roman Empire. Travel to the biblical lands
where Noah's Ark is believed to have landed, or visit the spot that
is believed to be the ancient Garden of Eden. Explore the city where
Mark Antony and Cleopatra met and married, the home of Virgin Mary,
and the location of the Seven Churches of the Old Testament.
Cyprus is a modern country that combines European culture with
ancient enchantment. Here you will discover a compact world of
alluring beaches and fragrant mountain peaks, vineyards studded with
olive trees and ancient ruins that stir the imagination, citrus
groves, and old stone villages where sweet wine flows as freely as
conversations at the local café. Cyprus is a carefree place where a
sense of timelessness is magnified by the kindness of the people.
Overall, Cyprus is an island that is as exotic as you imagine and
more accessible than you might think.
With so many different places to visit there's bound to be something
of interest for everyone in the Middle East.
